With prom season in full swing here is a little bit of trivia and fact.

The average girl goes to 11 stores and tries 13 dresses before making a decision.

Proms were not always the lavish events tha they have become but this picture from the fifties shows the evolution to today’s over the top events is at least a half century old.

According to an article published in The Herald Sun in  Melbourne, Australia Mums are spending up to $10,000 on children’s birthday parties.

This is interesting as it seems to be echoing trends here in North America. While some are doing some serious belt tightening and opting for smaller, more intimate parties there also seems to be a growing segment for lavish, over the top extravaganzas.
